Matthieu Idmtal - piano

27/11

Matthieu Idmtal was born in Brussels in 1988.

It is clear that this young musician is clearly making his way to the international stages. To this date Matthieu Idmtal gave concerts in major concert halls at home and abroad, as a soloist or as a chambermusician.

At the age of 7 he started taking his first piano lessons with Frima Nakimovitch, and at the age of 10 he gave his first concert. After a few years he continued working with Maria Andreeva – a former student of Alexander Iokheles – and he studied at the College of Arts in Brussels.

Currently he is studying at the Conservatory of Ghent with Professor Vitaly Samoshko.

Till nowadays, he gave soloconcerts in Belgium, Holland, France, Italy, Spain,…
Matthieu is also regulary asked as a partner for chamber music; he has a succesful piano duo together with the Ukrainian pianist Anastasia Kozhushko.

Matthieu Idmtal was very lucky to have the opportunity to follow masterclasses with great pianists and artists such as Leonid Margarius, Mikhael Faerman, Sergei Leschenko, Alexandar Pavlovic,…

While his repertoire ranges from the Baroque period till the contemporary music, Matthieu Idmtal has a great attention for the Russian pianomusic, with composers such as Scriabin and Prokofiev. Beside this he finds it capital to include less publicly known works to his repertoire.

Matthieu Idmtal is prizewinner of various competitions.

In 2009 he won the 2nd prize at the Piano Competition ‘Andrée Charlier’.
In 2010 he became a laureate of the Pianocompetition of Liège, won the Rotary Club prize of Charleroi, and recieved a 3rd prize at the International Music Competition in Verona, with his pianoduo.
In 2011 he won the 2nd prize at the Concours Grand Dominique in the Netherlands, and won a 3rd prize at ‘Concorso Internazionale Premio Franz Schubert’ in Italy, with his pianoduo.
In 2012 he won the Youth n’ Classic Competition with his pianoduo.

Matthieu was recently asked to perform Mozart’s 17th piano concerto with the Oosterhout Symfony Orchestra in Holland, and was invited as a guest musician in the International Music Festical ‘C’est pas Classique!’ in Nice, France.
